This series of work is titled "Reverence For Nature". Inspired by the reliquaries of the Middle Ages, I have taken ordinary "relics" from nature and have enshrined them in richly embellished containers. Instead of saint's bones; peach pits, dried rose hips, insects, apple seeds and rose thorns are a few of the humble objects from nature that are elevated to the status of a relic. Some pieces have a humorous aspect ; there is not one but three versions of "The One True Golden Thorn" and "Dragon Relics" contains a "dragon's" tooth, also blood, tongue and breath, all neatly labeled in silk bags. The most humble objects of nature are seen as deserving of our observation and respect.
