Being an artist has been a constant in my life from a very young age, as an art major in college, and in the many years since then. My house has always included a studio where I can concentrate on my art.

My main viewpoint as a painter has been to use pattern, shapes, spaces, lines and color in landscapes, seascapes or skyscrapes. For many years I have used trees, clouds, sailboats as themes and as metaphors for the abstract parts of the composition. At times I have used abstract or non-figurative elements as a design of a particular projects, painting or construction but have returned to nature again.

I feel I have had much diversity and a varied outlook over the years. I have used many media such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and of course, pen and ink and charcoal for drawing plus some three dimensional constructions. I have felt comfortable and enjoyed using all of them. In addition, I have also made etchings, lithographs and woodblock prints.

I do not feel my work falls into any particular ?ism or category but is the expression of how I labor to see things in their true light. I feel I have often been successful, which is gratifying to me.
